I was wondering how long hot flashes can reoccur? I have been in menopause for 10 years. I have tried several methods to relieve them. The past several years I have been taking Macafem which is a supplement. I don’t want to keep taking them indefinitely. The flashes can be nonexistent for years and then return. I would appreciate any insight or advice you can give me.

    Gratefully yours

I am 65 and have been taking Emerita Pro-Gest since I was 50. Went through menopause in my 50s. Am way past it. Should I stop using Pro-Gest?

    Dr. Northup,
Would you recommend hormone replacement therapy for 60 year old female who had a partial hysterectomy 20 years ago and still has her ovaries? Experiencing menopausal symptoms; mild hot flashes, vaginal dryness, thinning hair, wt gain. etc. ? Tried bio identical hormones 4-5 years ago when hot flashes were much worse with some improvement but nothing drastic.

Please address the benefits of bio identical therapy at this age if any.
