Interview with Dr Gregory Smith

I am excited to share with you that, on May 23rd, I was interviewed by Dr. Gregory A Smith. Dr. Smith is the former director of pain management at Harbour UCLA. He also is the award-winning producer of the film American Addict, and has worked hard to combat addiction and chronic pain since 2005. On his show, Truth, Medicine and Politics he cuts through all of the massive disinformation about medicine and politics.

  1. Dear Dr. Northrup: You are an answer to my prayers, and I am moved to tears by your
courage, wisdom, humor, honesty and your counsel to humanity. I saw your latest
PBS special, “Glorious Women Never Age”, just by chance about 4 weeks ago; I immediately
ordered the whole program, have found a Tango group here in Asheville, North Carolina,
and will begin your 14 day program with a few men and women friends tomorrow..I am
absolutely thrilled, and feel like I have known you and your beautiful family forever. I used
the following ‘title’ for a toast I gave at a 75th Birthday Party 2 weeks ago up in Cambridge
Mass: “Glorious Men and Women Never Age”, then in the Toast I told all about your Special.
I have spent most of the last 8 years caring for my declining 94 year old Mother (the healing
with her has been a miracle)–she died recently, so now I am recovering from the sorrow
and exhaustion–no regrets–I adored Mom (Shirley Roberts Wright)–her friends all called
her Shirl-Pearl, and that she was–a rare and real pearl.

Unlike you, I wanted to be an MD at age 9, after my youngest brother was born with brain
damage, and I was told he might not come home from the hospital. Getting into Med School
in the ’60’s was impossible, so I ended up at the College of Physicians & Surgeons/Columbia
University in their Physical Therapy program, which I loved–my first day at school I watched
7 hours of open heart surgery…at age 6, Dad, having just returned from the South Pacific where he was a Navy Pilot in WW!!, introduced me to stamp collecting–one day I saw what I
considered the most beautiful stamp ever, and was told it came from Africa..that set the
whole course of my life– living and working in Africa with the East African Flying Doctor
Service (visiting places I am told no white person had ever been before). My spiritual quest
began in earnest after encountering a male lion (9 ft long from nose to the tip of
his tail) about 1 AM one night on the savannas of northern Kenya with my friend George
Adamson (“Born Free” co-author)—as the lion walked towards me, I knew if I ran he would
think I was playing, then he’d chase me and wack my head off–well, I stood still, and as he
quietly approached, I heard a voice (the first and last time I have ever heard a voice), and
it said: “It’s okay”….well, the lion walked right up to me, rubbed his whole body against my
right knee (like a cat would do), and kept going–and I lived to tell the tale.

Well, you are another of the many blessings and miracles in my life. I now feel I
am beginning my anew (with YOUR help). I have been asked to write a book about
my many adventures and survival, which I am just beginning. Twenty four years ago
this month, I found a spiritual group in California which has literally saved my life. My
remaining years on the planet will be an opportunity to share the joy and enthusiasm I
have found and been given. However, I also have much work to do on myself, health-wise,
so this I begin TODAY. I shall write again, and thank you for EVERYTHING…your are
an inspiration and national treasure—I wish I had found you many years ago. I now consider
you a part of my Tribe, and hope someday I will be able to contribute to your Tribe.

    My eternal gratitude and appreciation.
    Wendy Wheat
