Powerful Ways to Improve Your Health and Longevity with Epigenetics

How to Live Agelessly

Scientists have long been fascinated with human DNA and the science of what is called genetic determinism—or the idea that you are destined to get the diseases that run in your family. That’s why when you have a genetic test, the “results” include statistics for developing certain serious diseases. But these “results” can be misleading. And the truth is your genes cause less than 10 percent of all illnesses!

That’s why after the mapping of the human genome was completed, many experts realized what I have been saying all along: Your genes are not necessarily your destiny. In fact many doctors who offer these genetic tests are the first to admit they don’t change their prevention or treatment plans. That’s because your genes really don’t determine anything all by themselves.

If Your Genes Aren’t Driving Disease, What Is?

Many experts believe that our environment is what influences how our genes are expressed and ultimately our state of health. In fact, there is an entire field of science devoted to this line of thought called epigenetics. To put it simply, you know that eating nutritious foods, engaging in physical activity you enjoy, and making other healthy lifestyle choices can improve your health. These are all part of your environment and within your control.

But your environment is not just physical. Your beliefs, your relationships, the way you handle stress, and many other internal factors are a huge part of your environment as well. And they can also be triggers for gene expression.

A study conducted by Richard J. Davidson, Founder of the Center for Healthy Minds and The William James and Vilas Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, shows that changes in gene expression happen very quickly when intensive mindfulness is used. Specifically, the study found that after eight hours of meditation people had reduced levels of pro-inflammatory genes and recovered more quickly from stressful situations.

Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., best-selling author of The Biology of Belief: Unleashing The Power of Consciousness, Matter and Miracles, says that our genes are just blueprints with no more power than a paper blueprint. We give them power to turn on and off with our beliefs. He also states that most health problems occur because of “misperceptions” we have learned or acquired. And, since perceptions can be changed, so can our health. So you see, changing your beliefs is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself. If you truly believe in your unconscious mind that you are young and vibrant no matter your age, your belief triggers a switch to turn on your longevity genes.

Also, you may not be the only one who benefits. Just as you may have received your grandmother’s gene for some trait, there is always the potential for passing your created good health along to future generations. That means, if you are considering having children, changing your beliefs about your health destiny may be the best way to ensure your children’s health too.

Your Beliefs Are Stronger Than Your Genes

It’s not too late to change your beliefs and change your health for the better. Here are 4 tips for empowering yourself toward vibrant health despite your genes:

1. Take notice of how you talk about your health. Your words become your destiny. The words you speak go into your own ears. They literally land in your body, and your cells respond. Instead of speaking about any dis-ease or dis-ability, speak positively about what you can do and how you are supporting yourself, and you will become as healthy as your words.

2. Acknowledge what diseases run in your family. It’s important to be able to fill out your family history for your medical provider. But don’t allow this information to take up too much space in your brain. And don’t speak as though it is inevitable that you will end up like a family member who has a particular disease.

3. Use your inner wisdom to elevate your health legacy to a vibrant level. As you know, my book Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, is all about cultivating your inner wisdom to create health. There are many ways to access your inner wisdom. One way is to pay attention to your dreams. Other ways include tuning into your emotions, your menstrual cycle, or even your energy levels at different times.

4. Listen to what your dis-ease is telling you. Listening to your body is the easiest way to create health daily. Ideally you will listen to your body before dis-ease sets in. If you are already experiencing symptoms, pay attention to what they are telling you. Acknowledge that you may need to make some changes. Allow space for your emotions to surface and be released.

How to Live Agelessly

Our biology is co-authored by others. How people see us and the expectation that as you grow older you become more and more decrepit has been dictated by our culture for a very long time. For example, a friend of mine who is active and healthy was asked by her doctor when she turned 50 if she had fallen recently. This is in keeping with the cultural norm that imparts the idea that when you get to be a certain age you won’t be able to do the things you always have done, such as walking without falling, and that you need to have a battery of tests each year to look for everything that can go wrong. Needless to say, my friend never went back to that doctor!

When you reject the cultural ageism that is the norm and change your beliefs and expectations, not only do you attract different circumstances in your life, but your biology also changes. Your stress hormone levels plummet, and the rest of your hormones start to become balanced. You may notice that your mood improves and much more. That’s because thoughts and beliefs manifest your reality and that included the reality in your body. Thoughts with a high, ecstatic vibration create a flourishing life and flourishing biology. Thoughts of negativity, fear, anger, and dread create exactly the opposite.

Though it’s not possible to access and change all our adverse beliefs in a single day, it is possible right this very moment to use your own power to change your point of focus. So here’s what I want you to do:

  1. Notice what is working. Start right now. What parts of your body do you love? What feels really good? If you notice something that does not feel good, bring healing thoughts to that area. You can use a Divine Love petition, recite a healing mantra or just send love to that part of your body. Do the same for your life circumstance. What is working? What do you love? If there is something you want to change, allow positive energy and thoughts to shape how that change can occur.
  2. Let go of unnecessary drama. There used to be a saying in television news, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Humans love drama. And it is possible to enjoy a little interesting drama and still have a body that gets reborn regularly. It simply depends on what you focus on. Just because you hear something that is disturbing or sensational does not mean you need to dwell on it.
  3. Focus on what uplifts you. When we allow positive thoughts to flow our cells respond accordingly. As I write this, I am taller, happier, and less stressed than I was 20 years ago. And the future looks brighter than ever. I want the same for you. And I know that it’s possible. No matter what. After all, there are documented cases of spontaneous remission from every known disease. So focus on what’s possible. Do this even when you’re feeling good! It just gets better and better.

What do you do to stay healthy and ageless?

Working after high school graduation, I began commuting from the suburbs to Chicago’s Loop area. Bouts of colitis were my constant companion on the trips into the city on the commuter train. Huge willpower kept accidents from happening, And then return trips home to my folks were fine, I’d visualize positive outcomes when these attacks happened, and would talk with myself to regain calmness, ease breathing, and assure myself that we would always be well. Then one time, I made a great and glorious connection. I’d moved out, and this one time had commuted to have dinner with my parents during the week. On the return trip I had a bout of colitis and connection my Mother and my fighting to the condition. Of course it might have been wheat, I was so allergic to stuff. But the connection of health, and thinking, in 1959, was before anyone was writing anything about visualizing and mind body stuff . . . and I was doing it. Hurrah! I think Mind is all there is . . . just don’t fully understand yet how . . . . Chopra did say: “All form is energy given thought.” So profound. Thanks for all you bring!

You are totally awesome. You live well by believing in yourself and in the beauty of your being. Two years ago ( at 75) my lower back pain was diagnosed as having 3 bulging sponges at the base of my spine. No shots for me. I opted for bringing my weight down to 112 lb. by losing 5-7 lbs. I added yoga in addition to riding my bike to pool exercise, & No Excuse Exercises w/Donovan Greene. Within 6 months I was pain-free following this regimen. What a glorious feeling as yoga enhances meditation. Diabetes runs in my family. Earlier diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I bounced back to normal monitoring my wheat & sugar intake, both sensitivities for me. However, the peripheral non-diabetic neuropathy remains but manageable w/DiosVein, Vitamin E, wearing good shoes, and walking. I do feel Bold, not Old for the most part. Still I realize my body needs to calm down & breathe more easy, letting some things go. I do have faith and believe and know hope will sustain me. Thank you for the opportunity to share.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and education with regards to women’s issues. There was a time when I wrote and produced medical reports for the news and felt as if I was really helping disburse information about women’s issues like PMS and osteoporosis. So, I have to imagine that you must feel the same way. Although genetics from both parents’ families is challenging along with own medical issues over time I am enrolled in yoga practice three times a week and feel like I can heal myself from any genetics in my family. Congratulations to you and all your success with your programs for women. I would love to produce those kinds of programs again and have an idea for one as I write this comment.

I am a 2 times breast cancer survivor. I went in for my annual mamo and they saw something that is a little concerning. I went to my Dr for a followup and he could not find what they saw. The nurse said because of my history, the Dr wants me to go to the breast center so they can find what they saw on the films so he can do a biopsy. I have already spoken COMPLETE HEALTH over my body. I am believing and visualizating GONE. My history is not attached to my future. I speak into existence what I want. In meditation, I cleanse my body. I am really new to this wonderful change in my life. Thanks to Dr. Northtrup, Ester & Abraham, e-motions, LOA and others, I feel my life can now be what I have desired for such a long time….HAPPY!!!

I tend not to go to a doctor unless I am ‘fed up’ with whatever is bothering me. I usually treat myself and most of the time quite successfully. I have had the following experience enough times that is now funny. If my cold has been hanging on and I am now concerned it is turning into bronchitis or my back is so sore that I can’t sleep at night or…whatever….once I decide “That’s it! I am going to the doctor tomorrow” I miraculously get better! It is as if when I get fed up and threaten my body with the ‘doctor’, my body says….don’t want to go there, so let’s fix this NOW. I can’t tell you how many times over the years it has happened. I am not one to get sick often so I remember these episodes. I guess that is self healing 🙂

I had a stroke in 2010, I was 49. I was under a lot of stress from my ex at the time. I knew I was having a stroke, having cared for my grandmother who’d had a stroke and reading “My Stroke of Insight”, I knew I could recover. I immediately asked God to keep me well, for recovery and wisdom. I enjoyed the euphoria as I experienced the energy fusion with all and the choice point of decision, “should I stay here?”. I stayed and recovered completely. I credit Eden Energy medicine with my knowledge of self healing. I do Donna Eden’s daily every medicine routine religiously, and have for the past 10 years. It has been life changing. My mantra during my energy work is ” Every Cell in my body sings with the joy of perfect health”. I am grateful for my experiences and I am transformed and transcended by the wisdom of knowing I am in control of my body. Thank you for sharing your teachings with the world. Namaste’

Thirteen years ago I was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis (GPA), it stopped me in my tracks! From the beginning I recognized it as my teacher. I focused not on “there is no cure,” but on “what will I learn from this dis-ease?” I learned Self-Love, Empathy, Compassion, most of all Self- Expression! I haven’t had an appointment concerning the disease in almost two years. I AM in better health now than before the diagnoses. I’ve often wondered if autoimmune disease is a “perfectionist” disease. Not loving ourselves, we attack ourselves and maybe, just maybe our immune systems mirror that.

What do you think Dr. Northrup?

Keeping the mindset of love in our hearts permeates our bodies. I work on self-love and this in itself is no longer an intellectual subject but experiential. Thank you for your wisdom and skill and bringing it to everyone. We need sanity and grounded thinking to heal – and it is possible.

Last year I listened to the Hay House Summit and was touched. This year I listened and was MOVED! Dr. Northrup, your advice for women my age has been a life-changer. I’ve decided that all those difficulties that I’ve seen going forward into my 60’s and beyond are not going to entangle me. I’ve gotten completely off sugar and bad carbs, read food labels like a research scientist, have started excercising regularly and of course, listen faithfully to Hay House Radio and your show. I’ve lost weight, my knees don’t hurt, my energy is high and I’m so much calmer than ever. Since your book, Goddesses Never Age has been released, every friend my age has received it as their birthday gift with a wish that they, too, will be come an ageless goddess. Thank you for your inspiration, support and continued encouragement to be the best we can be at any age. Now I’m trying to work on my 86 year-old mother!!

Thank you for your wise words! I am currently recovering from a quadruple bypass, at age 50. I’ve had ongoing heart issues for 9 years now, and I’ve always compared them to the death that subsequently has followed heart attacks in my family history. I have not been handling stress well, I know that I need to change it. I believe the way that I HAD handled stress is probably the single most important factor in causing my heart issues. It’s time for me to find ME again!

YES! I love the word YES and the word JOY!!! I was nearly dead with Lyme & 3 co-infections in 2005 but I worked tirelessly to find answers and to heal. I used alternative therapies. It was while one day detoxing in the sauna while re-reading a book that God spoke to me….”do you really want to be healed”? Of course, I thought it was a silly question….of course! The answer I heard was to stop talking as a sick person, but to begin speaking as a healed person. That in my quest for healing, all I wanted was pity and understanding. From that day on, every single day was a day toward my healing….and then one day I woke up and it was all over. I like to say, “I awoke and my life was dusty!” Since then I’ve never allowed 1 person to poo poo on my healing….although they certainly try. (I know the literature, I know the research….but I also know that I’m well for the first time in over 35 years!) I just don’t entertain those conversations or allow those people into my life….they vomit negativity all the time.

After I jumped that hurdle I tripped over another and started going into anaphylactic episodes after menopause hit. The mystery was finally solved after the second episode; Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD)….which I’d love to get your take on someday. And so day by day the puzzle pieces have begun to fall into place with this (genetic disorder!) and I am again walking in wellness. Not believing that I can’t do certain things or that the literature says such and such….I just believe in healing!

EpiGenetics is SO right on!!! Even the Bible tells us that “whatever a man thinks, so is he!” Keeping our minds on the positive and what is true may sometimes be difficult, but the work to get here is SO worth it!!!! Thanks for preaching truth and preaching a new way to live above disease instead of in it! xo

I have a sister whose life long mantra is “If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all.” She is an alcoholic, drug addict, has diabetes, heart disease, has lost all her toe nails & teeth by the age of 48, at 54 had a quadruple heart bypass from her smoking, and now her lower right leg & foot have been amputated. Her mantra cost her big time. I told her that “luck” has nothing to do with her bad health…..that she singlehandedly caused all of it by eating junk, drinking booze until her liver was virtually protruding out of her side, never exercising, and was spiritually dead. Believe it or not she is still alive and is 63 years old. She is in assisted living (court ordered by a judge) and has mild dementia brought on by her life style. I thank God every day that I have lived my life exactly the opposite as her. I’m 57 and most people think I’m in my early 40’s. I have always exercised, eat very well and study nutrition, have done Yoga for 16 years, love to go camping in the boundary waters in upper Minnesota, have my own vegetable and berry garden, love canning my own organic food, and am a hospice volunteer. My dear husband always likes the quote from the movie Shawshank Redemption “you either get busy living or get busy dying.” I learned a long time ago that a thought can be changed. Once I have spent time processing something and then grieve the loss, if old worn out patterns of thoughts come around again I just change the subject in my mind. What a life saver! Thank you Dr. Northrup for encouraging people to believe that we are all very different from one another. We truly can shape our own good health regardless of what happens to blood relatives. Affirmations rule!!!! : )

    Dear Dr. Northrup,
Thanks a lot for the good work you do and the big inspiration you are;-)
I have a question about venedrops- I have a lot on my left leg- they developed in my twenties and after 3 childbirth they have almost exploded in an extreem way (today I am 38). My mother has them in an extreeem way too – but on both legs and her father had it too. My sister has non but she also has my fathers shape of legs while I have my mothers…. My doctor recommend me to get them “removed” with surgery.- but I have so far believed that there must be away to remove it back ” into my leg” like my rigth leg..
In Louise Hay´s book – heal your life- she says that venedrops are symptoms of staying in a place your hate…. do you believe this is rigth?… and how will you recommend me to do? can I treat them with self massage and positive thinking ? to go away. Or somthing else?
Hope you can give me an ansver – I am ready to do what it takes to change somthing or do somthing but I would love to hear if somone has been able to remove venedrops in history – maybe that will make it easier to believe … Kind Regard – Ellen

I’ve been following you since I picked up a copy of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom over 20 years ago! I love this video so much and have seen epigenetics work in my own life. Heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and ulcers all run in my family. Both of my parents had been hospitalized for various ailments during my childhood. My Dad was overweight for my whole life, and had heart disease for most of my childhood. I too, struggled with weight for much of my life…never actually reaching the overweight diagnosis, but really believing that I was going to be overweight, and so dieted all the time to make sure that I could avoid that. As an adult, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease, which until that time, I didn’t realize also ran in my family! Then, when pregnant with my first child, I got Gestational Diabetes. Everything I had believed about my “genetic destiny” was coming true. Then..when pregnant with my second child, I had a revelation….I realized that I had been using these illnesses, weight issues, thyroid problems, diabetes, all of which ran on my father’s side of my family…to join in relationship with my father. I realized that there were so many other ways to bond with him and that I could make a different choice. I didn’t have to be sick to be close to him emotionally. At that moment, I felt a huge weight lift from me. During that second pregnancy, I did not get gestational diabetes…which from what I understand, is very uncommon. And proof that genetics is not the only thing in the mix! My beliefs were completely different, and that made a huge difference. Now, I am in my mid 40’s and have never been healthier. I just took a “fitness age” test, and it calculated that my fitness age is 23 years old! How great to be in a 23 year old body, but have the wisdom of a 46 year old! Thank you again for your continued teaching on our inner wisdom, on the power of our beliefs and on the general amazingness of women!

    Great video!

I’m aware of relatives who died from this or that because my mom rattles off a list. Bless her heart, but I don’t pay attention to it. For example, my mother and her brother have horrible arthritis and my sister is always talking about her hands (she was a hairstylist). But my hands are beautiful, and I type every day — I’m a SEO content writer and copy writer! My mom always tells me I’m lucky. I believe my thoughts of, “I have beautiful hands. My fingers are long and strong.” contributes to the health of my hands. I no longer buy into the ‘family’ stuff. Plus, my eating habits have changed as I’ve grown up and exercise my body and mind.

When I go to the eye doctor, he’s amazed at how healthy my eyes are. I wear contacts and glasses (working on reversing that). But I laugh each time he comments on the overall health of my eyes. It’s as if he expects my eyesight to be bad because of family genetics. Not!

What is also helping me is the book “Attitudes of gratitude: how to give and receive joy every day of your life” by M.J. Ryan. I’m learning how to really develop an ‘attitude of gratitude’. I like Ms. Ryan’s book because she doesn’t judge or shame you into having an ‘attitude of gratitude’ like some authors do. She tells you that it’s okay if you can’t feel gratitude right now but to consider slowly embracing the idea. For example, you can wake up in the morning and name one thing you’re grateful for (you can do the same at night). It’s a good book. I recommend it.

If you want to heal, do it. Form your own thoughts, beliefs, and opinions. You don’t have to follow your family. I think younger generations understand this more because we’ve grown up in a different time. We don’t get caught up in rules and traditions (some traditions are nice) and that you have to think this way or be this type of person. Some of us like to forge our own paths and do our own thing. We don’t have to follow what’s considered to be the norm.

I agree 100% how beliefs can and do change our body. Back in 1991, I healed my eyes from -2.75 to -0.25, from wearing glasses or lenses to wearing nothing by changing my beliefs. I simply repeated a new belief “My eyes are getting better” 24×7 for a week, then again in six months and then again six months after that: three stages each one was a week.

After 30 years of wearing glasses and lenses (age 6 to age 36) I improved my eyesight to the point of not using any correction for the last 24 years. Never, ever. I am sixty now and still do not need any eye correction and my eyes provide wonderful sights to me, unassisted.

Great video! I also listened to your audio book (audible dot com) with great interest. I loved it so much I listened twice and now I want the hard copy version as a reference tool, along with two other books you authored. Unfortunately, I am in the throws of a bout with Adrenal Fatigue and have even had to take time off work to look after myself. Everything you say makes so much sense, if only we were taught that when we were young. Anyway, better late than never. I’m following your prescription now! My “family” MD wanted to treat me with antidepressants, sleeping pills and very strong artificial hormones, which I refused and we had a falling out. I’ve changed my diet to organic real foods which support bodily health, and I even located a naturopathic doctor and an MD who has treated thousands of people naturally. I’m so grateful for your valuable information and I hold the vision that the “conventional” medical community gets on board the “do no harm” health wagon. I absolutely love you, Dr. Northrup!

I grew up feeling worthless and, in some ways, I treated myself as if I were garbage. I’ve often thought my constant high levels of anxiety, rationalization and guilt could have killed me by now. I have to believe that my subconscious must believe in me more than my conscious will. At one time I took a course on creativity at my local art museum and the instructor asked the class to choose something with which we identified strongly. In my case it was a rock in a clear river which had beautiful ribbons of color running throught it. We were asked to physically walk the shape of the thing we chose — to imprint it on our minds — and to create a piece of art from it whether it be objective, two-dimensional, poem, story, weaving, etc. We were to carry it around with us and even sleep with it, which I did. I began to carry a tape recorder with me noting various aspects of the rock and I began to find that what I liked about the rock I liked about myself and what I didn’t like about it, I also did not like about myself. I found that in the course of this class and these observations, I began to feel connected to everything and everyone around me. It was a natural “high” with what must have been accompanying health benefits. I remain amazed at the soul stirring this endeavor achieved, the sheer joy of it. In a way, it could be a form of enhanced meditation. I recommend it and I think I will try it again at age 71!

Thanks for posting this video–it’s to the point and helpful. (I’ll be sharing on my social media outlets fo-sho!) I have several diagnosis and people are always so surprised when I share I have them–but I practice what you preach!
Just the mantra “Your beliefs are stronger than your genes.” is so powerful. Using a line like that on myself as a “go to” for negative self-talk is so helpful.

In the ongoing period of my life toward spiritual growth and continued physical health, your messages in the Ageless Goddess (series and books) have convinced me to stay on tract. Our family is blessed by good health, and now I know that eating the correct foods, having a passionate intimate life, exercising, meditating and continuing to believe I am an Ageless Goddess, this is the most I can do to be balanced, joyful and healthy inside and out

My mother died when I was 17 of cancer. She was only 56. My father died when I was 23, he was only 61. I made a decision at those times that I would not do “that”. I’m 71 now, no meds and incredibly active and healthy. I have always resisted the conversations about “your parents diseases will be yours” and “getting old is all downhill”. What BS! I broke my family’s gene code. I’m also putting together a program for http://www.womenagingproud.com because of all these great and positive beliefs. I love your work Christianne Northrup – you rock!

Five years ago I was diagnosed with an aggressive triple negative breast cancer. I wish I could say I followed my dear friend’s example. She has cleared many health problems with the power of her beliefs and positive words. I didn’t do what she does, and don’t seem to know how to simply believe something on purpose, but I have long known that my health is largely in my own hands. I’d never eaten a lot of junk, and have walked daily for many years, but I cleaned up my diet further, eating raw vegan for many months, juicing, doing coffee enemas, saunas, and other natural therapies along with a less damaging form of chemo and eventually a mastectomy. Two years ago a new oncologist expressed surprise that I was still alive. Along with all the rest, I think my attitude that it just isn’t yet my time to go has a lot to do with the fact that I’m still thriving. I continue eating very well and walking. But mostly, I think, I have before me my mom’s example: You take care of yourself and stay healthy until you die. She, too, had breast cancer, but she didn’t die of it and she made it to 95.

I have been interested in how our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs influence health and dis-ease for many years. It is so wonderful to see so many people now confirming this. I have been committed to examining my beliefs and my thoughts and staying aware of whether they are supporting me or not. I read a lot and expose myself to various authors who support this view and this empowers me further. This was wonderful information…thank you Dr. Northrup for all that you are doing to empower others!

Hi, I get your email and video. I am reading your newest book but have read other one in the past. I am 73 years young drug free and still maturing and as with life change is ever present .I was told I had MCS when I was in my early 40. as I child had a lot of food allegers but didn’t know it. I am very blessed to have been able to stay out in the world we live in. over the years I have explored almost anything that would keep me able to be here. I have always said I don’t get other peoples stuff. and I haven’t . when I worked people would get the flue all around me or a cold and I would be fine. As I have had my own stuff that others didn’t have. I have always talked to my body and have done great and life changing EFT by Gary Grieg .Read many book on spiritual connections and the power of the mind to heal. Chopra, Louise Hay and many , many others . Do tai chi and qigong. Still clearing more beliefs ,those writing on my walls. Even now I changed my diet again to benefit by overall health. Have had several qi gong healing .I do Spiral Heart Energy . get regular Chro adjustments and Acupuncture .I know that what I think and my our self talk is what either keeps my moving forward in mind body and sprit or backwards and spiraling down . I aim for living a simple life. helping other where I can if I can. loving me and others where we in our lives .Feeding my mind ,sprit and body the best I can and blessing everything even that which seems to not benefit me at the time or the mistakes I have made as everything has a message to give . I chose forgiveness for everything ,mostly for my self for disconnecting from my source. In all that is our lives , I know that divine order always takes place and that miracles happen all the time if we open our eyes with love we will see them all around us. I am now sure all that I said as my divine sprit come out often says many things . For now I will go forward in my journey of life, forever grateful for my awaking .many blessing .Audrice

Dr. Northrop, I recently hurt my thoracic area of my upper back trying to jump rope at age 64 after not execprcising for a year. I live with lower back pain, but have never allowed it to slow me down.

Now with both the top and lower back areas in pain, I am asking how to release the emotions to understand what this “dis-ease” is telling me?

This pain has taken the wind from my sails and I want to be able to move freely, quickly with joy. I feel stagnated and old.

Christine, first off I think you are fabulous and what you do is so helpful and inspiring for women everywhere. I am a great believer in our beliefs control the way we think, positive attitudes you name it and I try as much as possible to remain positive about most things but my dad has haemochromostosis and so I decided to get the genetic test, and I have it (C282Y), my sister has just found she has it, so my mum is waiting to here is she has it. Our levels are low so no need for venesection at the moment, by my dad has osteoarthritis, lots of joint pain etc, all I have had is a gall bladder removal (prior to healthy diet) and some knee & stomach pains and tiredeness. Unfortunately although I agree that having a gene doesn’t mean you will have a disease, (my daughter is a carrier as her dad is a carrier and I have it obviously) but although I eat a healthy diet (more paleo than anything and clean) I know I can control it to a degree with diet and clean living but it is still worrying that other than that there is nothing that can take away the gene. I will be trying meditation, hypnosis and visualisation to try and prevent this disease taking hold but its hard at time not to let it take over. Have you any specific advice around this type of genetic disease? Regards

Hello! Thank you for sharing such wonderful insight. I know deep down that the job I have is affecting my health in a very negative way. My income is supporting others and I cannot quit or change without drastically affecting their lives. How can I survive in a situation like this? How can I provide positive feedback to myself while I wait for relief that I know is coming? God or Source sees what is going on and I feel I am being guided toward a solution but I am having great difficulty keeping it together. I am afraid that I will be fired due to absence and poor performance. I am stuck. Do you have any practical suggestions? Thank you….

I’m a person who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 10 years ago. I struggle with trying to figure out why this happened and what lesson I’m to learn from this. I try so very hard to be grateful, to read blogs and books such as yours, to watch Super Soul Sunday etc. but I remain stuck and depressed despite having recently gotten back onto anti-depressants. I started taking them because I’m 46 years old, in menopause and having flushes, night sweats and mood swings. It has helped with those symptoms but the sadness stays. I’ve been to therapy, I meditate, I’ve changed my diet eliminating gluten, sugar, dairy, processed food for the most part. It’s just so hard. I practice Reiki . I just don’t know what to do anymore. Please help.

When I was 23 I went to an iridologist who told me that I was an extremely weak person genetically and would always have to work twice as hard to assimilate nutrition and eliminate waste. I believed him wholeheartedly, and for the last twenty years I have been telling anyone who would listen that I’m this weakling–a lemon–a Yugo. It has shaped my health into an uphill battle of working hard just to maintain a level of normalcy everyone else seems to enjoy naturally. I’m just now realizing that this tape I’ve been playing might be false!! I’m beginning to play a new tape. And although I still struggle with this idea that I’m genetically weak, I have already seen great changes in my health and vitality since I’ve begun this new thought pattern.

    Thank you for this information!
